Rochester Cathedral, a new Exhibition Bridge Works

At the Precinct in Rochester  Kent.

Unveil the mysteries of one of the country’s oldest charities.
The Rochester Bridge Trust has provided and maintained crossings of the River Medway for more than 600 years – with the first bridge on the site built almost 2,000 years ago – but there is still much that remains unknown about the organisation among the general public, as visitors to the Bridge Works exhibition will discover. The cathedral crypt will house the main exhibition, taking visitors through the ages as they follow the changing shape of Rochester’s bridges. While across the hall Langdon’s Den – home of education mascot Langdon the Lion – will house a series of fun and educational civil engineering activities for children.
Open from 10 am to 4pm

Little Dodges Holiday

Little Dodges Holiday

We were so excited to take our first holiday in 17 years and it was really thanks to some of our guests!

Running a Holiday Cottage and Bed and Breakfast is a very rewarding job but the opportunity to take a holiday yourself is a little challenging.  We always make sure that our guests are put first and over the years we have tried to find the perfect week to go away but then a lovely booking comes in and it is postponed for another year.

Little Dodges has a wonderful family who come every year and in fact have become such good friends that we believed they could be left quite happily and would be more than delighted to be self-sufficient while we took a break.

So the 17-year hiatus was broken, the fear of flying was conquered and we found ourselves jetting off for a whole week.  Our guests managed perfectly, they always come for two weeks and our disappearing act pretty much went without them even noticing.

Hopefully we will experience another holiday ourselves and perhaps not wait another 17 years. Our loyal family are eager to book their next trip; they love the shopping particularly in Royal Tunbridge Wells, a unique town, with a wonderful modern shopping centre, plenty of High Street retailers and the beautiful and specialist Pantiles.  www.pantilestraders.co.uk

Little Dodges accommodation and Bed & Breakfast is perfectly situated for retail therapy, whether in some of Kent’s town or some of the stunning and historic villages in the Weald of Kent.  Please take a look at our Local Attractions pages for inspiration.

Here are photographs recently taken of the Folly, the tulips and the terrace at Pashley Manor.  We had a wonderful stroll around the gardens followed by a delicious cream tea. Glorious.

Non members can go and find the Gruffolo Sculpture and the Gruffolo’s child!

Discover the Pinetum by using your map reading skills. Orienteering is available at four different levels designed by Saxon Orienteering. For smaller people there is “Gruffalo Orienteering”.

Concerts in the Pinetum/Red arrows Folkestone

We have Tom Jones on Friday and Kaiser Chiefs on Saturday, this coming weekend in Bedgebury Forest.  This is an annual event over the two days in mid summer. In the past we have had Simply Red, UB40, Brian Ferry, Paul Weller and so many more.  It’s brilliant and better still just on our door step!

The Red Arrows are in Folkestone on Friday too!

IMG_2580We now have chickens!  This means that people can enjoy our breakfasts cooked with free range, organic and tasty eggs and be able to see why they are delicious and fresh!  Now, their names are, I think Gloria, Gaynor, Pollito, Nugget and Scrambles……

Now which ones are these?
