Our local picturesque village of Goudhurst is famous for its smugglers, (notably the Hawkhurst gang!) charm and range of shops and pubs. Marden village to the North historically grew when Dark Ages herdsmen visited the uninhabited thick forests in the Autumn to feed their pigs and lived in clearings known as “Dens” Horsmonden’s church is 2 miles away as the villagers moved to escape the plague. History reveals that this was the most important gun-making site in the 16th century due to the forge of renowned John Browne. He supplied guns and cannon to Charles I, a copy of one of his guns hangs above The Gun Inn today.
Joanna and Paul bought Dodges Oast 27 years ago when Paul was managing its adjacent fruit farm. This unusual Oast house was derelict, many wheelbarrows and much dust were involved in its restoration. It is an ongoing project with a recent single storey extension. Contact
This individual bed and breakfast accommodation has 2 airy comfortable bedrooms situated on the top floor with new en-suite shower rooms. Named appropriately The West Room and The East Room. The views over the surrounding countryside are outstanding.
The newly refurbished kitchen is home to a cherished English Aga bought to celebrate Joanna and Paul’s 25 years of marriage. see B &B
Little Dodges self catering cottage evolved around 15 years ago. This redundant stable and barn was wasted and in a poor state of repair. With some help from their friends Joanna and Paul were able to transform this detached character building into a warm, cosy 3 bedroom home for holidaying families from all over the world. see self catering
Our visitors have enjoyed this single storey beamed house as a base to visit places as far afield as Australia, New Zealand, Africa, USA and Europe as well as many others.
